One of a Kind Reworked Bed Cape

While working with Chelsea Von Mach, Ami created a pattern archive of amazing and rare vintage pieces. So that one day, as Chelsea’s brand expands they can be made into a stock for sale. Ami patterned this 1960’s cape and then made this bed cape using a 1960’s duvet that Chelsea had sourced. The cape was sold in Chelsea’s store in Santa Monica. The inspiration behind the design process was lingerie and bed wear of the 1960’s. A motivation behind the piece was rethinking loungewear and challenging the trend of wearing sweatpants and hoodies. Encouraging customers to swap modern loungewear for pieces that make you feel good and are still comfortable. For example, this cape feels like you’re wrapped in a comforter but you will look fabulous. Designing special pieces that people will want to hold onto opposed to throwing away and replacing are always prominent in Ami’s work.
