While being a full time student at FIDM Ami also worked full time in the Industry. Some classes Ami took in her studies are; Industry Sewing, Collection Development, Figure Drawing, CAD Drawing, Photoshop, Pattern Making, Draping, Art History, Color and Design Theory, Machine Knitting, Fundamentals of Illustration, Digital Asset Management, Grading, and much more. While in school Ami made honor roll and truly used her experience at FIDM to learn and constantly pushed her creative thinking and ability. She continues to use that mindset in her work as a designer and continue to push herself.

Assistant Designer and Production Assistant for HEIDI MERRICK

HM functions as an atelier style brand. Production is cut and sewn mainly in house or locally in the district. Therefore, the design team also functions as the production team. During her work at HM , Ami has assisted in the collection development from concept to production. Which included contributing creative ideas, organizing mood boards, making patterns, taking detailed design notes, souring new manufacturers, adjusting samples and improving fit, planning production, sourcing fabrics, etc. Working directly with the creative director and head designer to assist in the development and production of the collection from conception to finish.

Assisting and Designing for Emmy Award Winning Costume Designer Chelsea Von Mach

November 2021-Fall 2023 in Santa Monica, CA

Ami worked directly under the owner, Emmy Award Winning Chelsea Von Mach, to grow her small brand which offers curated vintage clothing but hopes to one day to become a big design name. Originally hired on as a personal assistant and was quickly given wider responsibilities. Was pivotal in the creation and launch of Chelseavonmach.com. Created an archive of patterns of rare vintage pieces, collaborated with the owner to make One of a Kind pieces available in store, designed and sew by Ami herself. Made digital imagery for marketing and story telling. Assisted the curation of; uniquely themed livestream sales, store inventory, interior design of the retail space, and small collections. Mended and altered countless garments and maintained the inventory with love. Along with many more responsibilities.
