Over the last four years Ami has been a full time student at FIDM while working full time in the Industry. Some classes Ami took in her studies are; Industry Sewing, Collection Development, Figure Drawing, CAD Drawing, Pattern Making, Draping, Art History, Color and Design Theory, Machine Knitting, Fundamentals of Illustration, Digital Asset Management, Grading, and much more. While in school Ami made honor roll and truly used her experience at FIDM to learn and constantly pushed her creative thinking and ability. She continues to use that mindset in her work as a designer and continue to push herself.

Assisting and Designing for Emmy Award Winning Costume Designer Chelsea Von Mach

November 2021-Present in Santa Monica, CA

Shortly after opening her business in Santa Monica, selling curated vintage clothing, Chelsea Von Mach needed assistance in her business and found Ami after she reached out through the FIDM career network. While working with Chelsea Ami’s responsibilities have grown immensely over the last two years. Originally hired to be her personal assistant and help her with the running of her store in Santa Monica, Chelsea quickly recognized Ami’s ability and asked for help on various other aspects of the business. Ami has been instrumental in the creation of Chelsea’s website, in the curation of many sales, the merchandising, design and curation of her store, the mending of garments, the creation of an archive of patterns, the creation of one of a kind garments, altering garments for sale, reworking vintage pieces, sourcing fabrics, creating digital imager, assisting the styling of photo shoots, and much more. In addition to Ami’s design help she has also built relationships with customers, improved Chelsea’s shipping system, and ran the store alone for extended periods of time. Chelsea truly gave Ami the chance to see what it is like running a small brand and the full scope of that, which is certainly a long term goal of Ami’s. The opportunity to work under Chelsea Von Mach has been one that Ami is immensely grateful for and especially grateful for the creative respect and freedom she has been given in her position.

Senior Bridal Stylist and Team Lead at LUV Bridal LA

August 2020- January 2022 Downtown Los Angeles

At Luv Bridal, Ami led two hour personal styling appointments with brides to find them their dream gown. She was initially hired as a bridal stylist and after a year was promoted to senior bridal stylist and team lead, when she took on further responsibilities and processed shipments, trained new employees, and assisted in other stylist’s appointments and in ordering brides gowns with their proper customizations, measurements, and additions. Ami also helped in the maintenance of the store, cleaning, assisting guests, merchandising gowns, steaming shipments, and much more. In addition to the duties she was hired to do Ami also took on the mending and maintaining of sample gowns as Ami of course is a Fashion Designer and skilled seamstress.
